Smoking Ban To Have Positive Outcome

The smokers and bar owners afraid of a citywide smoking cigarettes ban should take a deep breath of fresh, clean air and relax.

Most important is the benefit to public health. The majority of bar and restaurant patrons who don't smoke cigarettes will no longer be subject to secondhand smoke. Service-industry workers who tend bar in a cloud of smoke cigarettes will be able to breathe much easier. On top of that, their clothes and hair won't reek of cigarette smoke cigarettes after every shift and bar employees could say good-bye to dry itchy eyes.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, secondhand smoke cigarettes puts nonsmoking cigarettes adults at risk particularly for heart disease and lung cancer. The health benefits alone outweigh the minor inconvenience of stepping outside to smoke cigarettes a cigarette.

Most states have already adopted a similar ban on smoking cigarettes in enclosed public spaces and those states haven't gone bankrupt from doing their part in making a healthy atmosphere for their residents by enforcing a smoking cigarettes ban.

It's understandable that bar owners are skeptical of such a change. However, cities even larger than Shreveport have put these bans into effect and are yet to suffer major losses. Austin, Texas for example, utilizes the smoke cigarettes ban in its bars. Sixth Street still gets crowds of patrons and customers from out of town swarming the streets. If cities with at least double the population of Shreveport can adjust, Shreveport can too.

Smokers merely have to step outside if they want to light up. Bar owners can still provide outdoor patios or covered areas for smoking cigarettes clients. Bar owners would have plenty of time to accommodate the smoking cigarettes clientele and time to bring in the non-smoking cigarettes clientele.

Many bars can probably even expect an increase in customers, not only will the smokers be frequenting their usual hangouts but the non-smokers will begin to patronize these establishments as well.

Who benefits from a smoking cigarettes ban? First off, all non-smokers benefit. Additionally, business owners who have prepared for the change, bar employees who enjoy and value their jobs but are confined in a cage of secondhand smoke cigarettes and smokers who need a push to begin the quitting process all can use this ban to their advantage. Lastly, insurance companies who will have less cases directly linked to cigarette smoke cigarettes can see the benefits to banning smoking cigarettes in all public establishments.

Those who will suffer are the bar owners who refused to think forward and cater to new and old clientele and the minority of smokers who refuse to adapt.

The concern of bar owners is that there will be a loss of patronage, therefore, suffering financially. However, as long as every bar is included in the ban, no establishments will be in competition. Sure, some businesses may suffer a small portion in the beginning, but customers will become accustomed before long.

For those patrons who are unable to drop the habit and unwilling to walk outside, another option is the electronic cigarette. The electronic or vapor cigarette offers nicotine or non-nicotine vaporized solutions to be inhaled, it's battery-powered, offers a similar flavor and sensation of cigarettes smoke cigarettes yet there is no smoke cigarettes or cigarettes. This product provides a much safer alternative to both the smoker and the nonsmokers around them.

The great thing about a smoking cigarettes ban is that essentially everyone still gets their way. Smokers are still allowed to smoke, they just have to step outside the building and non-smokers can breathe easy in any establishment, so they can frequent more places and for longer periods of time. Everyone has a right to breathe clean air and the right to decide whether to smoke cigarettes or not. So why should that choice be stripped from the non-smokers every time they want to go for a drink?
